[Story]
In amnesia, you are daniel, a guy that woke up in a creepy and spooky castle. But, as the story unfolds, with a lot of flashbacks, you figure out what you are doing in that creepy mansion.

[Graphics]
In my opinion, this game’s graphics are what make it so scary. the castle feels real, and all locations are nicely put where they are at. The monsters look really good and scary, and all the animations are great.

[Sound]
In a scary game, sound is very important, and, luckily, amnesia has great sound effects. From monsters screaming at you, to simple things like breaking objects, amnesia’s sound delivers it all!

[Gameplay]
"An example of the "Insanity effects"
Like penumbra, amnesia is mainly a stealth game, you have no weapons, and there’s no way of killing any of the monsters that try to kill you. So you must hide in the shadows and avoid the monsters by all means. This gameplay is a nice change from all shooters out there and I love it. You can grab almost every object in the world, in order to create distractions or even open up a path.
Another very important part of this game is puzzle solving. There are a LOT of puzzles in this game, they are not bad, but some of them could have had some more explanation to them.
You have a sanity and health meter, both are extremely important in this game. The health meter, controls your life, and can be restored by taking some 'laudanum', which is basically a health potion. Sanity, on the other hand, is much more complex, when you face a monster for example, you sanity decreases, this will cause you to be seen if you keep looking. Sanity  can only be restored by making progress or by staying in the light, and that’s where the lantern and the tinderboxes come in. The lantern is a limited source though, which will make you have to choose when you use it. All this survival-horror gameplay is great, and I love it!

[Extras]
For those of you who are afraid that this game may lack of replay value, there's no need to be, there’s a custom story option, where you can create, play and share your own scary games, this adds great replay value, and the level creator is simple to work with.

[Verdict]
I’ve been playing this game for six months, and I have to admit that this one of the best horror games I have ever played. I only think that the ending, and some graphical issues are a letdown.

Pros:
+ Simple story:
+ Awesome atmosphere;
+ Great sound;
+ Nice gameplay;
+ Survival elements;
+ Sanity meter
+Custom Stories

Cons:
- Graphical gliches;
- Lack of explanation;
- Endings;

[Rating
8.5/10
